My Week with AI — week ending 2 October 2026

ESP32 Powerboost USB integration and power troubleshooting

Saturday 26 September, 7:35pm–Wed 6:28am · Claude Code (macbook) · Opus 5

Prompt:

familiarise yourself with the contents of this folder. the claude.md is from a claude code chat on the mini where we did the shopping and the prototyping. the other .md is today's chat with the claude web app while i was soldering and setting up. I've got the powerboost on battery (blue light, all good from the looks of it). I have an apple keyboard plugged into the USB-A with a standard old-style apple cable. I have the ESP32 via a microUSB into a mac adaptor to USB-C, ready to plug into this device (Macbook) when you give me the word.

What I was trying to achieve: I wanted to figure out how to power and connect peripherals to an ESP32 running on a Powerboost battery.

What happened: Worked through USB power architecture constraints — the Powerboost doesn't provide power on its USB port — and identified an OTG Y cable as the solution to split power and data.

Reflection: Most of the problems with this project came from my sloppy soldering. The code part was easy.

ESP32 BLE keyboard pairing troubleshooting

Wednesday 30 September, 9:36pm–Thu 2:27pm · Claude Code (mini) · Opus 5

Prompt:

Are you registering the ESP32 I’ve plugged in?

What I was trying to achieve: I wanted to pair an ESP32 with a BLE keyboard.

What happened: Scanned BLE devices extensively, discovered the Magic Keyboard was incompatible, restored the writer firmware, and identified the key specs to look for in a compatible BLE keyboard for future purchases.

Reflection: Once again, code and Bluetooth easy, physical wiring wrong…

Raspberry Pi DAC Hardware Setup

Thursday 1 October, 9:42pm–9:57pm · Claude Code (mini) · Opus 5

Prompt:

Found in a drawer

What I was trying to achieve: I wanted to understand the pHAT DAC hardware pinout and investigate an old Raspberry Pi OS SD card I found.

What happened: Confirmed the I²S pinout for a pHAT DAC audio card and began exploring an old Pi OS SD card that was mounted on a mini board.

Reflection: You can probably tell that I’m on holiday by the projects this week
